Wives Of Perpetual Students

W.O.P.S.

Welcome ladies!

Here is my collection of the sisters I have found throughout the blogosphere that share in our … er… experience of being married to those life-long-learners. Be they Daddies or just plain Hubbies, they require special care (as do their wives!).

So let’s encourage each other onward as we seek to push them forward through (and eventually out of ) their educational careers.

After all, when they accept that Nobel Peace Prize, we want them to be able to thank us for our undying love and support without which none of their success would have been possible, right?

Breathe in; breath out - we can do this!

  3. So I’m definitely a wife of a perpetual student but I quit maintaining a blog. I would be willing to start a Facebook group if anyone is interested.

  13. Haha, I totally LOL when I saw this. There should totally be a support group for Wives of Perpetual Students. My DH is doing his grad work in Computer Science, and will be finished in December, but he’s already talking about the fun community college classes he wants to take (and teach!) when he’s done! The real question is when do I get to work on my master’s, huh?

  14. Add me too please!

  15. I so qualify! My husband got his masters in education and then almost immediately started to work on his masters in divinity! No rest for the weary, him or me!

  16. Add me too! My hubby is working on a degree that will give him his BA in Accounting and then a Master’s. Our goal is for him to be finished before our 12 year old goes to college!

  17. You mean I am not alone?! My husband is brilliant but he changes his course work every few months.

When we married he was working on a second BS and a MBA…he’s on a different MBA and is planning something else. I have resigned myself that it’s best to let him go on and in the meantime I work, he stays home. I’d prefer to be the SAHM but at the same time, don’t you want the smarter guy home so he can answer the “WHY” questions.

All the best to you and your husbands buried in books!

  19. Finding this has brought me comfort already! lol

My husband is in his 2nd semester of grad school, working on an MBA program. Estimated to finish the end of 2010, we’ll see when the end will really arrive.

We have 2 boys and have been married going on 6 years. I am ALREADY sick of grad school, but try not to show that to him.

Nice to run into others in the same boat!

  20. Please tell me how you manage to have kids AND a student husband? And are you a stay at home mom? How do you get by financially? My husband is going to study - but I have to keep working, so have to wait another 7 plus years for kids - and thats killing me… HELP

  21. He stays home with the little ones. Studies when he can between naps and doing laundry and at night, weekend.

I work full time. I am able to work from home a bit or flex hours when I need to so he can leave early for a class.

and we stretch every penny we can.

  22. My student husband is only part-time in the doctoral program. And I can’t say much as I’ve been going to school more or less since we’ve been married (maybe he qualifies as Husband of Perpetual Student?).

I’m not sure that I count.

  23. Love it! Love it! Love it! This group caught my eye immediately and is definitely needed if only to remind you that you’re never going at it alone. My husband and I met in undergrad. He went back after we graduated to get his teacher certification, started a grad program at one school, finished it at another. In between applications to PhD programs, he is now considering a master’s in journalism (compliments of yours truly). So, 9 years, 8 moves, and 2 degrees later, I still can’t tell you what he wants to do, but I love him anyway!
