About
I am The Natural Mommy. Not The Organic Mommy. Not The Hippy Mommy. And no, motherhood does not come naturally to me.
Good. We’ve cleared that up.
What is The Natural Mommy about?
I am about doing things as naturally as possible (as much as our budget will allow). I know that when God created this world for us, it was perfect. He designed nature to suit our physical needs. And then came the fall of man. The first sin. And nature turned against us. Our own sinful human nature turned against us. As I journey through motherhood, I struggle with raising my children in a fallen world. I long to live the way God originally intended, but I am forced to improvise.
In a nutshell, I am about breastfeeding, cloth diapering, co-sleeping, baby-wearing, natural childbirthing, and non-circumcising. I am about living as frugally as I can on my husband’s graduate student stipend. I am about worshiping the sovereign Lord who created this world, then came to it as a man to suffer and die for my sins. I am about being in a constant state of learning to be a godly, gracious mother, wife, and person.
When my first child was born, I was a clean slate. I absorbed book after book instructing me how to raise children. And as she grew and was joined by her brother, I learned the most important lesson of motherhood: Every child and family is different. There is no one solution that works for every child. There is no one school of philosophy that you should follow religiously. Unless that philosophy is Prayer. And that should be a daily prayer of, “Dear God, please raise my children right despite my pitiful attempts.”
This site is a record of my journey: my attempts, my successes, my failures, my joys, my sorrows. Please take from it whatever may help you on your own journey, and leave your experience and advice so that I may continue to learn and grow!

Hi,
I am interested in purchasing text link advertisement on your web site “http://www.thenaturalmommy.com”. Please let me know if you are
interested then we will discuss more in detail. I can offer you best to make it worth your time.
Thanks
I am so with your approach . . . I don’t do all of what you do, but I see where you are coming from. However, I am intrigued that you don’t circumcise even though a lot of what you are aiming to do is get back to the basics. I am not necessarily pro-circumcision either although both of my boys are . . . we chose that after reading both sides and decided if there’s less risk of cancer and UTIs plus they’ll look like most other boys their age that we would go with circumcision.
Would be interested in hearing your opinion on it sometime though . . .
glad to meet you!! Finally a blog that’s not about teaching you to wear dresses only, cook and clean and look a certain way!! Wohoo…a genuine blog to enjoy. I bookmarked your site and left several comments.
Hello!
Thanks for the tips. You should check out Daisy Blue Naturals. It has truly natural products, you can read the ingredients on line–no chemicals EVER.
The best thing about the products is that they can be used for more than one thing…so it’s very economical. For example, use the baby oil for diaper rash and for moisturizing skin. Lip balm as cuticle balm. Sleep Easy spray for relaxing and calming you at night and as a bug spray!
I know you probably get many businesses writing in promoting their products. I don’t know if you’ve heard of Daisy Blue but I really believe it’s worth checking out…you have many similar likes. Plus…the company was started by a mom who just made products for her family and it developed into a business.
Anyway, check it out. It doesn’t hurt to learn more
If you have any comments or questions I’d be interested in hearing them!

Thanks!
