But you have to scroll to the bottom for the results.  😀

I saw Rat Race once.

Anyway, I’m done with the written portion of the Why I Love My Kid assignment for Benjamin.  I’m just editing some pictures to illustrate it.  Have you started yours?

But that has nothing to do with the race.

Josh and I are racing tonight.

He’s been running three times a week, on alternating days as myself.  So we’ve never run together.

He’s been focusing on speed while I focused on distance.

(Ahem… ran my first half marathon two weeks ago in 1:57:17… in case you missed that)

But we will meet tonight at 6:30 to see who can finish a 5k first.

I did an unofficial 5k last Saturday in 22:42. He ran 4.75mi last week in 32 minutes.

I think I can take him.

But… a la Modern Family… should I?

(That clip doesn’t show the result of the race… couldn’t find one that did.  But she ended up letting him win.)

Tee hee.

UPDATED!

Well it’s over!  I forgot how much I dislike running shorter distances.  The first half of the race I just wanted to quit.  The second half, the only thing that kept me going was the fact that I was half done.  And the last half mile, when I picked up the speed even more, I just kept telling myself, “You can throw up when you’re done; you’re almost there!”

Gah.

Josh stayed with me for the first half.  I expected as much.  I figured he’d pity me and stay with me til the end and then sprint his way to victory.

But he didn’t.

He fell behind around the half-way point and ended up finishing 40 seconds behind me!

I WON!  23:04 for me and 23:44 for him.

The proof:

But I have a theory on Josh’s actions.

I think I know why he fell behind.  And stayed there.

He likes my running shorts.

They are pretty short.

So we’ll never really know who’s faster.

(I am.)
