First off I want to say terrific blog! I had a quick question that I’d like to ask if you do not mind. I was curious to find out how you center yourself and clear your thoughts prior to writing. I have had difficulty clearing my mind in getting my ideas out. I truly do enjoy writing however it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are generally lost simply just trying to figure out how to begin. Any suggestions or tips? Kudos!

Your ‘new’ van is an ’04, I think, isn’t it? Paul really appreciates getting to drive the green van to college every day! Hope it lasts long enough! It still has plastic taped all over the back. But it works.

I was wondering what happened to that rear view mirror…

We don’t live in Missouri, my in-laws do. It was their green van that met its demise over the holidays. Well, it used to be, anyway. They live in Mennonite country (but are not Mennonites, hence the green van (Mennonites who drive have to have black vehicles). Anyway, yeah, Mennonite country = dirt roads. Dirt roads = no hubcaps.

But we go there a couple times a year to visit! And I think they call themselves Missourians?

Rich (my step-dad) felt bad because it was him who went down to get our van with the tractor, and subsequentially finished it off. So he gave us an older (new for us! 2002!) business van he was going to trade in for a new truck.

Our van wasn’t quite totalled (very close, though), so he has the van for a trade-in and the check for the damages to go towards his new truck. It’s a 2002 Dodge Caravan – and it’s the extended kind! Our old van was really a car in disguise.

Oh, I hope you get one soon! We were blessed to have been given BOTH our vans (the old and the new), and I’m SO GLAD. Vans are WONDERFUL.

I’m a lurker (although I may have commented before a while ago). I guess I didn’t realize you lived in Missouri, or maybe it just didn’t mean anything back then but now it does because next week we are moving to Missouri! Anyway, this isn’t really related to your post but I was just excited to “meet” a fellow Missourian (is that what they/we are called?) that I couldn’t help but say hi!

A van. I think we are about to get our first (very old, used, but affordable for us-cars are very expensive here in Israel where we live) Quite needed now that we have 5 under 7 and our truck only holds 5 total. The ability to go somewhere as a family is fantastic. I’m so excited!
