You should let Josh know that the coolness factor falls a bit when he wears his Adidas shoes on a motorcycle. Get him to a military surplus store and buy him a pair of boots. He’ll thank you. Trust me.

Joanna – true… but it’s not like he didn’t ALSO get a video camera and a laptop. Apparently they didn’t risk his life as much as he preferred. Wow, now that you (and I) mention it, we have gotten a lot of toys in the past 4 years, huh…

Beth- you DID get a nice new camera, and a new laptop over the last couple years- not as frivolous, but still “toys”
And, I think the iPhone plan is $70/month ($40 for voice+$30 for data)… so, for us, more than we’re paying for TWO phones… if only we could justify it…

I miss our motorcycle! Now Daniel gets to drive an exciting bike to school. Ah… the days when we were baby-less and went cruising around on our “moto.” Of course, it wasn’t nearly as cool as the one Josh has. But, it was blue.

Donielle, I know, right?! Maybe a new stainless steel cookware set… but an iPhone would be a lot more frivolous! (and fun!) But then we’d have the $30/mo plan for two years…

Todd did the same thing when he turned 25. We had just had a baby, he drove a taurus (!) and I had a jeep. 3 months later he sold the taurus and bought a camaro. Which is what he drove in highschool. He sold it last year though and bought a vintage motorcycle though.

But what shall we buy? I get to have a crisis to right?

Yay motorcycles! My dad had a bike from a teenager until we moved to Peru. He had one when he was at Taylor, and when he and my mom got married they drove off in the car with a trailer pulling the bike behind. When we lived in North Carolina, my dad was a volunteer fireman and used his bike when he’d answer emergencies. When Hurricane Hugo blew through, my dad was the only person who was able to get out to the rural areas because the roads were blocked by fallen trees. I had happy memories riding on the back of my dad’s bike, holding on *very tightly* to his waist.

My dad has had his eyes on getting another motorcycle for quite a while now, but they can be expensive. :-/ I feel like there are other reasons too but I can’t remember.

I would totally love it if Paul got a motorcycle, but he has not the least bit of interest. Sigh. I wouldn’t buy one for myself, but I’d love to ride behind him. I think it’s funny that there are all these guys out there who want motorcycles but their wives won’t let them, and here we are with the opposite situation! Hehe Maybe Paul will come around someday.

I figured it out. I’ll tell my Josh- “When we have 3 kids and the other vehicle’s a minivan, you can have a motorcycle.” Think that will work?

DON’T TELL (my) JOSH. All his friends from high school, who we still hang out with periodically, just got motorcycles. I think he wants one, but hasn’ been insistent, and I’m pretty opposed to the idea. Because I’m boring and a mean wife.

But you? You’re an awesome wife who lets her husband get a motorcycle. Wow.

As a bonus, he’ll get really good gas mileage on his way to school every day.
