Benjamin was super-cranky during a typically late lunch (1pm) today.  I cleaned him up and rocked with him while Olivia finished eating and I wasn’t surprised when he promptly fell soundly asleep.

I put him down, cleaned up his sister, cleaned up the kitchen, and put Olivia down for quiet times as well, letting her pick out her bucket of toys first (as is customary).

Forty-five minutes later, I hear Benjamin wake quite cheerfully from his nap.  I then proceed to hear the door open and see Sister leading Brother sneakily from the bedroom to the toyroom.  Since they have NEVER attempted sneaking out of their bedroom during quiet times before, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and pretended that their sneakiness had succeeded.

I heard toys being put into a bucket.

I then saw, out of the corner of my eye, Olivia (carrying the toy bucket) leading Benjamin by the hand back into the bedroom while whispering, “It’s time for quiet times, buddy!”

Having taken pity on his toyless estate upon waking from his nap, she felt the need to go help him fill a bucket of his own for the rest of quiet times!

::Sigh::

I love my children.
