Here are some sledding shots from our most recent trip to Illinois:

Look how tiny Benjamin looks walking up that hill all by himself! (That’s Aunt Shannie beside him.)

Olivia made her first snowball. Okay, so she found it by the side of the road. But she was pretty durn proud of it!

Here’s a good shot of how bundled Mr. B was. We didn’t feel like shelling out $20 for boots that would only be worn a few times, so we taped Wal-Mart bags around his feet. They’re actually taped TO his jeans. 🙂 Toasty.

Sledding with Daddy

Olivia borrowed those snow pants. They fit my younger brother when he was nine.

Meet Australia Dave. He’d never seen snow before this visit to the States, and this is his first time sledding.

He decided he liked sledding. And snow. And doing this to Aunt Sassa:

Payback:

Meet Eve, one of Josh’s youngest cousins. She wasn’t even old enough to walk at our wedding.

And this is her sister, Hope. She was our flower girl.

So CUTE.

We eventually got bored with all the tame hills at my mom’s house and headed to the local park, known for its sledding hills. It had two steep hills back to back. Someone had constructed a jump out of snow inbetween them. Scary stuff.

Australia Dave braves the jump.

And gets some serious air.

And so starts a steady stream of sledding-gone-wrong:

Josh ended up in the grass, somehow.

Melissa’s… sled… got some air.

Olivia has her first sledding wipe-out. (This one was actually taken on a safer hill earlier in the day. She didn’t attempt the scary hills at the park).

Shannon discovers just how fast that “racing” sled goes. She almost ended up in the frozen river. Observe.
