Several days ago, I expressed my desire to Josh that I want to learn how to cook a turkey several years before I am expected to serve one to hundreds of people on a national holiday that centers on said turkey.

And then, I was shopping at Kroger’s on Monday and totally and completely misread their sale sign for turkeys.  I saw the sign that said “$10 off if your transaction comes to $50”.  I saw the price tag on the turkey as $15.

Call me naive, but I thought I was getting a $5 turkey.  AND I had a coupon for $2 off.

Yeah, I was confused when my total was $10 higher than it should have been.

Turns out the price tag had already been reduced by the aforementioned $10 sale.  So all week I’ve been telling myself that $13 for a 13lb turkey is really a good price.  Really.

All that to say, I have a turkey in the oven.  For the first time.  Ever.  I’ve been reading and re-reading the Better Homes and Garden’s recipe all week.  It was highly reminiscent of studying for a college exam.  Because I surely do not want to waste that $13.

And if it all turns out, I will have to brag on my stuffing.  Because I made it from scratch.  In its entirety.  (Except for the chicken broth.  That came from a can.)  But the bread?  From scratch.  Fresh this morning, then cubed and baked.

Ohhhh, I hope this turns out.  The timer dings at 5:30.  The anxiety!!!
